About

I am a public health professional, human rights activist and photographic storyteller with particular interest and experience in working in South-East Asia and the broader Asia-Pacific region. I am currently developing a long term project on climate resilience and resistance in communities living along the Mekong River.

I’m a first generation Sri Lankan Australian, with interest and passion for exploring the intersections between climate change, gender, ethnicity and migration and human rights issues. Through working and giving voice to concerns of local communities and organizations, I hope to increase visbility and action around neglected stories and injustices. I also hope to contribute to collective liberation and decolonization, starting with myself …

I hold a BA (Hons) from the University of Sydney, MSc (Public Health) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Doctor of Public Health from the University of New South Wales. I have published extensively in public health, including some of the first studies demonstrated elevated HIV risk and inequities in access to testing and treatment for migrant populations in Australia.
